olieniveau.gifAls het oliepeil te ver daalt, zakt een drijver (6) met een magneetje (7) bij een schakelaar (rode pijl) weg en gaat de schakelaar open.
De sensor werkt trouwens pas bij een olie temperatuur vanaf 60 graden, dan gaat een bimetaal afsluiter (8) open staan, zodat een gaatje (c) onderin de vlotterkamer open gaat en het oliepeil in de vlotterkamer overeenkomt met het peil in het carter.
Een gaatje (d) bovenin de vlotterkamer zorgt voor het vullen van de vlotterkamer bij koude olie (gaatje c is dan afgesloten) en voldoende olie in het carter.

Het is natuurlijk onwaarschijnlijk dat de pomp te hard zou pompen, veel waarschijnlijker is dat de olie niet snel genoeg weer terugloopt.
Misschien zijn er enkele oliekanalen of het filter (gedeeltelijk) verstopt.
Of zit er simpelweg te dikke olie in.
Een slechte elektrische verbinding tussen sensor en instrumentenpaneel zou ook kunnen.
