Vroegere radio's hadden nogal een lange antenne nodig om voldoende signaal op te vangen, vandaar.
Waar dit eigenlijk goed voor is, ontgaat me want met de antenne half uit had je waarschijnlijk toch geen ontvangst, al zeker niet in een parkeergarage.
Ik heb het nog niet in de praktijk uitgeprobeerd.

Je kunt wel met zo'n schakelaar forceren dat de antenne omhoog gaat dan wel juist niet omhoog gaat.

Er zijn (voor zover ik weet) drie uitvoeringen van de schakelaar:

Der schakelaar als volgt aansluiten:
1* en 2 aan de schakeldraad van de antenne (normaliter blauw)
3 aan de stuuruitgang van de radio
4 aan constante plus (dan kan de antenne ook omhoog als de auto uit is) of aan geschakelde plus (dan gaat de antenne bij uitschakelen van de auto naar beneden)

* bij schakelaar 1298209310 wordt pin 1 aan aansluiting 58d (instrumentenverlichting) aangeschloten, en bovendien pin 5 aan massa, dan wordt dus alleen pin 2 op de schakeldraad van de antenne aangesloten.

Ik heb in mijn coupé een schakelaar ingebouwd om de antenne bij niet-gebruik van de radio te kunnen laten zakken (standaard op US modellen). Heeft iemand deze schakelaar al eens succesvol aangesloten in een Europees model of moet de antenne hiervoor speciaal zijn uitgerust? Normaal gezien is voor de aansluiting een speciale kabel voorzien die echter bij MB niet meer beschikbaar is.
