Goedendag, eerst even voorstellen, ik ben Bert, al mijn hele leven oldtimer liefhebber, veel engels spul gehad maar ook duits. Momenteel in bezit van een W123 240D 1977, een W124 300te 1991, en een W126 420SE 1988.
Over die laatste gaat mijn vraag. We hebben hem ongeveer een jaar, heeft ca 240 dkm gelopen en is in perfekte roestvrije staat. Maar, onlangs is de bovenste kettingspanner gebroken van de rechter cilinderbank, gelukkig op tijd ontdekt en zonder schade. Die moet dus vervangen worden samen met de onderste en samen met de twee van de linker cilinderbank.
De vraag is nu, wat is de beste werkwijze c.q. wat moet er worden gedemonteerd om er bij te kunnen komen.

Hoi, dat is niet de spanner, maar een geleider. Die gaan inderdaad op een gegeven moment kapot.

Vervangen van de onderste geleiders is meestal niet nodig. Er zijn voor boven ook aftermarket versterkte aluminium geleiders gemaakt. Weet niet of die er nog zijn. De kettingspanner zelf zit aan de linkerkant van het blok.

Check ook de rek van de ketting. Kan vaak geen kwaad om spanner, ketting en bovenste geleiders in 1 keer te doen.

Bij 240.000km zou ik meteen alle geleiders en de ketting vervangen.
Je bent dan toch bezig.

Oke, bedankt tot zover, nu weet ik wat vervangen moet worden. Nu nog de werk methode. Kan dit met de motor in de auto? en wat moet dan worden gedemonteerd om bij de delen te komen en deze te vervangen?

Bij 240.000 hoef je normaal gesproken niets te vervangen, maar helaas kun je niet altijd van de afgelezen km-stand uitgaan. Als een geleider breekt, is het tijd, ongeacht de stand die de teller weergeeft.

De meeste W126's zijn in de afgelopen 30 a 40 jaar links of rechts wel een tonnetje of wat kwijtgeraakt. Zag onlangs op Marktplaats nog een oude SEC van me terug. Had na 15 jaar een lagere stand dan waarmee ik hem verkocht had. :lol:

Bovenste geleiders, ketting en spanner kun je met de motor erin vervangen.

Die hebben weinig te leiden. De bovenste krijgen de klappen. Vooral die aan de bestuurderskant.

Wat moet er worden gedemonteerd? Ik neem aan de radiateur en airco condenser en ventilator er uit zodat er ruimte is naar voren. Dan de distributiedeksel eraf om bij de pennen van de geleiders te komen? Wie met ervaring wil reageren?

Voor de bovenste geleiders, de kettingspanner en de ketting hoeven alleen de klepdeksels er af.
Wil je ook de onderste geleiders vervangen, dan moet inderdaad de hele boel er uit.
